Now that I have an Android I thought I would share a list of apps that I use and places I found that helped me learn about the Android ;-) In most cases select the droid market place on your phone and enter the name of the application I have listed and you will have the option to download directly on your phone Power Control Widget allows you to turn off services that you are not using (Wifi, Blue tooth, GPS, Sync and dim your screen) to conserve you battery life! To add the 'Power Control Widget' on the home screen press menu, select 'add', select 'Widgets' then scroll down to Power Control. Just remember you need four (4) positions open across the screen you are on to place the widget. If you find you don't like this widget you can just place it in the trash can to remove the widget from your home screen. - Places I found that helped - Android Market place - a great site showing you most (if not all) of the apps available for the droid Zedge - Great site for FREE ringtones, wallpapers etc. Mobiletech - Notes on how to setup custom ringtone and notification tone on your droid. Additionally they have a great article about the Motorola Droid and some awesome links - Links to the Apps I use - Google Sky Map - The universe in your pocket (new) MediaFly - podcast reader that will also download vidocast! Google Listen - Listen from Google lets you listen to your podcasts from your droid - still good but only audio podcast so now I use MediaFly Google Maps - View the world from your droid (and know if traffic is heavy)(new) Glympse - let others know where you are and show them you are on your way Weather Bug - Find the weather for today and tomorrow Shazam - Identify music tracks by letting your droid listen and tell you the song Chess - Chess for Android Google Shopper - Find the best price on the net from your droid Jewels - just like Bewejeled Klondike Solitaire - Solitaire what more can I say Act 1 Video Player - Info on encoding for the droid and a nice video player Aldiko eBook reader - Browse, download and read ebooks Calendar pad ColorNote - a simple notepad Barcode scanner - Zebra Crossing barcode scanner FatSecret - Calorie Counter software Taskiller - You always need to know what is running and when to kill it Uninstaller - made by Rhythm Software Astro File Manager - Sometimes you just need to see what's on your Droid Where's my Droid - install before you loose your Droid GPS Status - Displays the information received fromt eh phone's GPS receiver Droidlight - Use the super bright camera LED as a flashlight - Over the Top Video (OtTV) on the Droid - - TMZ - TV.com - My settings - Beyond horizon - A picture of space is the background I have Austin Powers Cel - is the ringtone I use - History of the Cell phone - Martin Cooper - Father of the Cell phone (at least a great PR man) Centel 1989 - one of first cell phone commercials Radio Shack Cell - now I feel old I sold these phones!
